"Katherine Archer is one of those very rare performers who can command a small room or festival with just her voice, instruments and personality."
Her repertoire of popular and original songs are from a variety of genres--blues, jazz standards, folk, rock, country and family & kid’s music. She regularly performs her "Educational, Toe-Tapping-Feel-Good Music with a Purpose” at schools, libraries, nature centers, churches and spiritual centers--any place folks and kids gather for a good time.
Katherine is available for songwriting and guitar workshops with children and adults of all ages. She also performs at public and private functions, weddings, acoustic venues and festivals. She's ready to tour, sometimes accompanied by her road manager “Zelda." (yup, she's the little red pup in the pics)
The daughter of rural Virginia county store owners, Katherine would sit for hours upon hours "people watching" and listening to the personal stories of the locals in her small farming community. Much of her time was spent outdoors exploring nature, the appreciation of which shapes all she does.
Katherine picked up the guitar at age twelve and began performing in clubs at age fifteen. In her late teens she left music school where she majoried in classical guitar and headed West. She fell in love with California and stayed for years, working in folk music cafes, performing and touring as a solo act and with various groups.
Eventually she came back East via New York, honing her skills as a songwriter, creating music for films and video while writing and performing children's music in the New York school systems.
After touring parts of Europe, the UK and the States she settled in historic St. Augustine Florida drawn by the beauty and nature of the Sunshine State.
Katherine is an exciting live performer, creating an intimate and powerful bond with her audience. With her remarkable voice, signature guitar and mandolin skills, lucid songwriting and wry between-song humor, she weaves a musical journey through stories of love, laughter, nature and tears.
